It is possible, depending on how the paint has been stored - if you were unlucky enough to have the box left over from the last pallet, but I think we've found the problem:

I think you've just provided us with the information we needed - if everyone else was squeeging their barrels, then they were either breaking paint or there was rain/mist in the air and barrels were getting water inside them from the porting etc.
If the barrel is not dry and free from paint etc. then you will see exactly the effects you describe - it doesn't matter if your gun costs £100 or £2000, a bit of water in the barrel will screw with the accuracy!

Not one iota in terms of accuracy - in fact there was a test done several years ago against many different barrels and the winner was a an overbored piece of PVC tube!!
