New MacDev Marker: Tactical Drone - 12-06-2009 , 12:05 AM

For years now MacDev have made high end markers for use in tournament paintball. The designers at MacDev have now made a new marker specifically designed for use in scenario paintball.

Construction
The Drone is CNC machined from solid Aluminium billets, without castings or cheap plastic parts, you will receive the same quality expected from MacDev high end tournament markers.

Pneumatic Drive
The Tactical Drone is based on a simplified, valveless version of the popular Droid marker of 2008, however it has enough changes to the drive system to make it a new design in its own right.

The pneumatic drive is fed by the next generation of inline regulator, the new Gladiator RX2. The new inline boasts industry leading flow, recharge, reliability and ease of maintenance.

Electronics
The board inside the Drone is based on the Cyborg RX electronic platform, however programming and feedback is achieved via a chameleon LED housed in the rear of the grip frame. A powerful microprocessor achieves lightning fast firing response and allows the user to access fire modes and select fire options.

Limitless Potential
Add-ons for the Drone will give almost limitless combinations and customisation to your marker, the Drone is the perfect platform for your ideal scenario machine-gun.

Key Specifications
Length,Width, Height (with Barrel) 475mm/225mm/45mm
Power 9V Alkaline
Weight (with Barrel/no Barrel) 1056g/961g
Barrel Thread AutoCocker
Propellant Compressed Air/N2
Included Barrel 12" 0.693 bore
Air Efficiency 1400+ rounds per 68/4500psi

The Tactical Drone is tentatively set for release at the end of July 2009.

What's to be confused about?

Just as Bob Long had adapted his amazing Marq platform, now MacDev have adapted their smooth shooting Droid for the Milsim market - now you can have top level performance without sacrificing any Mil-Sim looks or functionality....

Yep - just like the M-Tac and SP-8.

Best of both worlds.

Not entirely and thats why i'm confused!

The Mtac and SP8 both look like real firearms... the Drone just has rails on it.

nice idea, but the rails don't seem right...

The mg shroud should be railed as by the looks of it you wouldn't be able to attach a tac light above the barrel or a laser/taclight below.

If you're playing indoor CQB then side rails are less useful than vertical rails if you have a centre feed hopper, especially as you need to exit out doors on the left & right hand sides. As a result, you need your taclight in the centre and aligned to your barrel... having taclights vertically doesn't increase your profile unlike when horizontally mounted which would seem the only option with this marker

I've never seen the point of tac rails behind the hopper clamp as what purpose do they serve?

Could be a Q-loader adapter perhaps?

...I can be used as a bad example

From what I'm given to understand, this is the base model - like an A-5/X-7

There will be different shrouds and bolt-on goodies (stocks/fake mags etc.) available soon so that it's mil-sim looks can be completely customised.

Rider - it's an adapter for a Longbow-style tube mag apparently?

yeah, kinda what it looked like to me.

would of thought something with that prospecive performance would be sold short by a tube feed, but hey, we'll see.

No disrespect to Macdev but this isn't far enough removed from the design of a speedball gat in my eyes. It really just looks like a speedball gun with the minimal amount of rails stuck on.

Could do with something to make the grip less sport and more milsim. Also the barrel shroud looks like a bit throw on.

I'm really not trying to slag of macdev they are top class but this gun isn't milsim enough for hardcore woodsballers.
